Went through an online assessment, then had two technical interviews. The interviews focused on my background and system design, specifically infrastructure and the approach I'd use. They gave me a test after the first round, and the second round, which lasted an hour, was a discussion about that test, covering the approach I took and the architecture I followed.

Applied in late December 2025, heard back in Jan 2026. Did the screen interview, personality quiz, and video recorded interview in a span of 1 week. I was out of the country, so requested online interview, hr initially accepted, scheduled the interview, then cancelled it citing the interviewer’s preferred face to face interviews. I flew in, did the interview. Interview was mostly the same questions i answered for the Video on Demand Interview. 2 weeks later no response, emailed the recruiter 4 times, got a response that they’d be hopefully winding up by end of the third week. Two days later got another email saying they were still pending internal discussions. Now, 1.5 weeks after that email, and 4 weeks in total since the interview, no word. I’m taking they moved forward with another candidate.

There was an alternate assessment process due to disability, which included one 60-minute interview focused on behavioral and motivational questions, followed by an online assessment center before a job offer was extended. Be aware, though, that the salary is quite low (around 24k) because they cover your degree costs while you work. If you opt for nationally mobile roles, you'll have to relocate every six months during the two-year program with just two months' notice about your next move. Also, some programs under this scheme last four years, which might be too long for some. If you decide to leave the company during the program, you'll be required to repay the tuition costs for every year of your degree.

The selection process for the HSBC Securities Services Summer Analyst role is pretty structured. It starts with an online application where you submit your CV and answer some basic questions. If you get past that, you'll do an online assessment to check your reasoning and how you'd fit in. Then, there's usually a job simulation for Securities Services with practical tasks like data interpretation, prioritizing, and some written or video answers. The last part is often a Virtual Experience Day or assessment centre, which is a few hours long and includes interviews (strengths and maybe technical) and group tasks. Sometimes, depending on where you are, you might have another chat with the team or manager before they decide.
