It was a prescreen with a representative. The pay range listed online was $19.37 - $47.31 and I was very qualified. The job was about a 50 minute drive away. The job description said remote, but the representative stated I would have to work in the office for 4 to 6 months before potentially working from home maybe two weeks at a time. The salary offered was $22 - $24 and she said it wouldn't increase. She also mentioned I'd need to work there for a year before being considered for other positions.

The interview process was pretty fast, finishing in about a month. It kicked off with a phone screen. After that, candidates got an Excel dataset a week before the next interview and had to make a PowerPoint presentation to answer some questions. Then came a standard case interview where you're presented with a situation and discuss possible solutions. The final round was a behavioral interview with a director.

Behavioral Presentation

First, you need to submit a written sample of how you'd manage a situation. If you pass that, you'll give a PowerPoint presentation about your written statement. This whole thing was made to filter people out using best practices and answers, but nobody actually got cut. Lots of people had in-person interviews. It's basically a behavioral test to see how you answer. The interviewers jumped in and gave advice. They picked someone with less experience than everyone else, ignoring their past experiences and education.

So I got this random phone call from an HCSC recruiter, kinda out of the blue. They seemed a bit lost and couldn't even find a job description online, even though they were asking me tons of questions about the job. They didn't tell me who the manager was or anything, and honestly, they didn't prep me at all. Then, just two days later, I had this panel interview with three big-shot execs. It was super awkward because they just didn't seem into me for the role. They asked some really odd questions, like about the most unethical thing I'd ever been asked to do at work and how I handled it. After that, I heard nothing for nine days, and then just got an automated email saying the job was gone.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Could you tell me about the most unethical request you've received in a previous job and describe your response to it?
  • Tell me about how you reacted when you were asked to do the most unethical thing in a past job.
