& Process

I participated in the in-person dynamics, there were 3 stages. The first was a personal presentation in English. The second was solving a group case study (who leaked the company's data and why, based on information about fictional characters). The third was also a group dynamic where the group had to create an innovative prototype to sell and defend why their product was innovative and necessary. The managers asked suggestive questions to try to invalidate the product, and the group had to defend it appropriately to convince customers to buy.

I interviewed with Halliburton for a procurement role and it was a really strange experience. Even though I have more than five years in procurement, they told me my experience wasn't enough, which made me wonder if they expected like ten years for an associate role. My salary expectations were also apparently too high, so I guess they were expecting someone with a decade of experience to earn around RM3,000? The interviewer also seemed unprepared and unprofessional, with messy hair, casual clothes, and a general lack of interest, like they were just going through the motions. It felt like a waste of time and didn't showcase Halliburton's recruiting standards well.

I went through all the stages and on the day I was supposed to get feedback with the proposal or rejection, I was left hanging. On the day of the occupational exam, there was confusion because they scheduled more people than the clinic could handle, we took a long time to be attended, remembering we were fasting. Online stages with video recording answering questions in English, English and reasoning tests. You get a call from them informing you about the salary and benefits, in this call they inform you that the trainee period lasts 4 months and you have to move at your own expense to Macaé to work in person. After that, you are invited to a group dynamic either in Rio de Janeiro or in Macaé, they cover the flights and accommodation. On the day of the dynamic, you will present yourself in English for 1 to 2 minutes, then they will separate the groups and the first dynamic is to solve a "mystery" as if you were a detective. The second dynamic is to develop a park and sell this idea to investors who are the managers. Between the first and second dynamic there is a coffee break where you can talk to the managers, it is important for you to stand out and get to know the areas that interest you. Expect a very cold air-conditioned room on the day of the dynamic and only coffee at 11 am.

So, applying at Halliburton usually means going through a few steps to see if you're a good fit. First, you send in your resume and cover letter, make sure it's tailored for the job. Then, a recruiter might give you a call to chat about your background and why you're interested. For some jobs, you might have to do some online tests to check your skills. After that, you'll probably have in-person interviews with the hiring manager and maybe some teammates. They'll ask about how you've handled stuff before, like conflicts or teamwork, so think about using the STAR method for those. If it's a technical job, they'll ask technical questions too, maybe about projects you've done or concepts. Sometimes they might give you a case study related to the oil and gas world to see how you think. And be ready to say why Halliburton, what excites you about us, and how it fits your career plans. Oh, and for some roles, you might even have a panel interview with some higher-ups. Finally, if you get through all that, they'll check your references and do a background check. Oh, and definitely research the company, tailor your answers, use STAR, ask questions, dress well, show you're eager to learn, and just be yourself.
