Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Halliburton.
Secretary
I applied on a Wednesday and got a call the next Thursday. I had a quick phone interview and they said I was a great candidate and would hear back soon to set up an interview. They called the next day and my interview was scheduled for the following Monday! The interview began on time, however I realized I was over prepared. The questions and interview style were very relaxed. It felt more like a casual chat about my work experience than an interview. I wasn't expecting that since they are one of the biggest and most successful companies in the world. But as I've read in other reviews, this seems to be their style. The interview lasted about 30-45 min. I thought it went well and was grateful for the experience. I sent a brief follow-up e-mail the next morning but never heard back. I recently received a rejection letter via e-mail, 2 months after the in-person interview.
- The interviewer talked more than me, and there weren't any difficult questions.
Executive Assistant
I thought the company culture was very structured and traditional from the start. The first two interviews went smoothly and on time, but after that, their communication, integrity, and professionalism really dropped off before the final interview with the hiring manager.
- The HR Rep called at 8:30pm the night before the final interview with the hiring manager and asked me to print, organize, and bring several PowerPoint presentations from my past job.
Administrative
I was emailed by a staff member in the US, which was a bit unusual, to set up an interview. I then met with the manager. Both the staff member and manager were professional and friendly. It was a standard interview with questions like 'tell me about yourself'. The people seemed great, but the pay wasn't competitive.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- How do you manage your workload and decide what to do first?
