First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Granite Telecommunications.
Intern
The process was pretty standard. It started with a phone call from a recruiter, and then I had an interview with the hiring manager. The recruiter was really helpful and friendly, which made me feel more comfortable after I was initially nervous. The hiring manager was also great, and both of them emphasized what a good working environment it is.
- What are your top priorities when choosing an internship?
Pricing Analyst
I had a phone screen with HR, which was totally behavioral. The HR person seemed pretty chill and talked easily. They asked about my cover letter, my past work, and why I wanted to work there. I was doing a bunch of applications at the time so I wasn't really ready to explain my 'why' for this specific role or company.
- Can you discuss your prior experience and how it relates to this role?
- Could you elaborate on your cover letter?
- What about your past experiences can you share?
Relationship Development Associate
The recruiter contacted me on LinkedIn and we arranged to talk that very day. Our chat lasted 20 minutes, and I was in the middle of answering a question when the call dropped. I figured it was a technical issue, so I waited for him to call me back. When he didn't, I tried calling him, but he didn't pick up. The next morning, I saw in my LinkedIn messages that he had blocked me. This was really unprofessional. I'm fine with not being a good fit and I don't take it personally, but my issue is that instead of just telling me that, he ended the conversation abruptly. It's a terrible way to represent the company, especially to people who might want to work there. If this is how they treat candidates, I can only imagine how they treat their employees.
- Can you tell me what your understanding of Granite is?
Marketing Analyst
I was contacted to complete an interview through Webex for a marketing analyst position. The interview was through chat only and the interviewer would continually not answer for minutes at a time. Culminating in a 20 minute span where i didn’t receive a response to a question. Clearly they outsourced this first stage in the interview process and it is HORRIBLE. Worst part is i am actually interested in the position but the interview was so unprofessional.
- What types of market analysis have you performed against competitors?
