First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GHD.
Electrical Engineer
The interview process was pretty straightforward and not overly formal. I ran into some technical difficulties, but the interviewers were understanding and gave me extra time to sort things out and rejoin the meeting. The interview itself wasn't heavily technical. It consisted of a recruiter call, a technical screen, and then an onsite interview.
- Can you tell me about times you've worked with teams made up of people from different disciplines?
Customer Support Manager
The interview experience was good but the follow-up was really bad. I went through the whole process for the Customer Support Manager job in Waterloo/Markham, including talking to the hiring manager, a panel interview, and a Korn Ferry assessment. But then the recruiter left, and there was zero communication or handover. I didn't hear anything for weeks and had to chase them myself. That's when I found out the job was filled. The interviewers were great and the job sounded cool, but the hiring process just didn't have any continuity or anyone taking responsibility. People expect to be kept in the loop, especially after getting to the final stages. GHD really needs to sort out how recruiters hand over candidates so people aren't left hanging.
- Could you share an instance where you collaborated across departments to prioritize customer needs?
Data Consultant
So after applying, HR sent me an email. My first interview was with the recruiter, who said they would get back to me soon, but then I didn't hear anything for over 3 weeks. I emailed a few times with no response. Then the recruiter emailed saying he was busy and thought he had already responded. He scheduled another interview which lasted an hour and went fine. The next day he responded quickly, but communication became inconsistent again. He asked me to schedule the final interview with little notice. They never explained the interview structure or what to expect, saying I'd have an onsite exam in SQL or Python but gave no details. Everything felt vague and I had to keep asking for clarity. After the final interview, the recruiter said he’d get back to me the next day, but I had to follow up again with no response. Yesterday after 5 p.m., I got an email asking if I wanted to go through the feedback, no call, no debrief, just a message after waiting a week. It was clear if I hadn't followed up, he would have never reached out.

- Could you elaborate on your experience?
Software Engineer
I had one-on-one chats with team members where we talked about my technical background. I was asked technical questions about software development, drawing from my resume and a take-home test. The take-home had simple requirements. In the end, I was let down because they didn't really check my solution properly, based on the feedback they gave. Also, some things they said weren't needed, but then their feedback said they were. It was a pretty bad experience overall.
