Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at GHD.
Civil Engineer
The interview started with a welcoming vibe. Senior engineers asked straightforward questions to understand my past experience and interests. I felt comfortable discussing myself. They were looking for ambitious people eager to show their engineering skills.
- Can you tell me about your hobbies outside of work?
Environmental Engineer
I applied online and then had an HR chat, followed by an in-person interview with some PMs and people I'd be working with. The whole thing felt pretty relaxed and easygoing. Everyone I talked to was super nice and easy to chat with, so I was really surprised when I didn't hear anything back after my third interview, even after asking for updates. I reached out to HR and the PMs a few weeks later for info but got no response. It's weird because the people seemed so friendly. It was a really unprofessional and disappointing experience, especially since it made no sense why I was ghosted after they wouldn't reply.
- Can you walk me through your resume?
Structural Engineer
The interview was quite thorough, with a lot of questions and tasks. Some parts required recalling basic university knowledge, but it was a good way to check what I knew. Overall, it was a good exercise.
- What motivates you to join us?
- What are your reasons for leaving your previous employer?
- Could you elaborate on your past work experience?
