I was invited for a Mid-Senior SRE role by HR, even though my resume showed no professional experience. I spent a whole night prepping for tough technical stuff like K8s, Terraform, and Cloud Architecture. But, the interview with the Senior Engineer was super unprofessional. It was just a laid-back, uninterested chat, and he didn't even check my tech knowledge or certifications. Then, they sent a robot email rejecting me 24 hours later. It felt like they just needed to hit an interview quota.

Had a 30-minute initial screening call with HR. Then everything went downhill. They sent me a coding task to finish by the end of the week. The next day, they realized they sent me the wrong task and gave me a different one. I completed the task and sent it to the email address they asked for. A week after the deadline, they contacted me saying they had no visibility (even though they sent it to the email address I gave them) and asked me to also send it to another address, which I did. It's been several weeks and I haven't heard back from the company, not even an automated rejection email. Zero organization.

Behavioral Technical Coding

  • Regarding this Python code using PySpark, what changes would you suggest in a code review? if df.count > 0: # Workflow 1 else: # Workflow 2

This interview started with some introductory words about what the interview would cover. The recruiter might ask about a project from your resume and then asked a lot of technical questions covering Javascript, Typescript, NodeJS, and a few random ones. One thing I noticed is the interviewer seemed kind of rigid and opinionated about some things like IDEs, my experience with Photoshop, and what framework to use for a POS terminal. For instance, they said things like 'that's weird' when I talked about the tech and stack choices I used before. That's just their personal view, though, doesn't mean it's right or wrong.

  • Do you have experience using Photoshop?
  • Could you explain what an abstract class is?
  • Is it possible for Typescript to be rendered in the browser?
