I had an initial chat with HR and then followed up about the next interview but was only contacted a week later. I had another interview with the manager and I enjoyed that. However, there was no follow up after that despite being told by the manager about the next round and being asked to schedule it. Advice to the management- Please be considerate of candidates time and standardise the process.

So, there were two parts to the interview. First up was an HR chat, pretty chill, mostly about getting to know me, like what I've done before, my projects, and my strongest programming languages. Then, there was a technical round with two people interviewing me. They actually sent over a heads-up about the kinds of questions beforehand, which was really nice and took away some of the stress. The tech questions were mainly about REST APIs and stuff, plus some behavioral ones about dealing with disagreements on a team and working together.

Behavioral Case Other

The interview process included an HR call, a manager interview, and a case interview. Communication was inconsistent, with some quick responses and long periods of ghosting. A major red flag occurred when an offer was rescinded after a slight counter-offer, indicating shady hiring practices and rigid budget constraints. This made me glad I didn't accept the initial offer. Another red flag was the absence of an annual bonus, resulting in a total compensation significantly below industry standards, yet they expected no negotiation and were quick to rescind offers. Disappointed by HR and management's handling of the situation, especially given the company's promising appearance.

Behavioral Technical

I went through two out of four interviews before being turned down. The two interviews I participated were pretty standard for an experienced software engineering position: 1) a screening call with a recruiter, 2) a one-on-one conversation with a technical lead on the team I was applying for. Both people I spoke to were warm and easy to speak to, and left me with a positive impression of FreshBooks, even though I didn't get an offer. Additionally, both people were _very_ forthcoming about the culture and challenges facing their company - much more so than you would usually get this early in the interview process.
