Behavioral Technical

It was a typical interview process. Started with HR questions, then moved to questions about my current employer's systems and focus. The interview panel didn't really focus on how I could contribute to the company's long-term growth, or explore my analytical, logical, out-of-the-box, or broader experienced perspective.

Started with a chat with HR about the role, opportunity, and my background. HR was very friendly and helped with the next steps and company info. Next was a coding challenge on Codility with 3 questions covering SQL, Python, and Distributed Computing. These were reasonable, and the distributed computing one was particularly fun and unique. After that, there were a few rounds with engineers. The first focused on behavior and traits, offering insights into company culture and team fit. Then, a technical interview with two Data Engineers, discussing my experience, past projects, technical details, and design choices. We also reviewed my coding challenge and explored hypothetical scenarios with added requirements. This was enjoyable and a good way to get to know the team. Following that, an interview with the Director of Engineering about my past roles, the company's and Data department's outlook, and my personal motivations and interests. This felt like a good alignment with the company culture. The last round was a brief, informal talk with a cofounder about the company's goals and personal chats. It was a really enjoyable conversation that solidified my positive feelings about FreshBooks. Great experience overall, with everyone being professional yet friendly.

Behavioral Coding Technical

I got contacted by a recruiter, so the first step was an initial HR call to chat about my background and the job and see if I wanted to move forward. Then, the recruiter set up an interview with the technical team, which was a video call with 3 people, a manager and 2 data engineers. They mostly asked behavioral questions and talked about past challenges in similar roles. Right after that, I got a technical test on Codility with 2 questions, one Python coding question and 2 SQL problems. The last step was a technical interview with the team, where we discussed technical approaches from my past experience and worked through a technical problem together on a shared Google Doc. The technical team was pretty chill and friendly.
