The interview was in-person and pretty laid-back. They asked standard questions about how I handle conflict, my work habits, and my previous retail jobs. They also asked why I wanted this specific role. Then, I had to do a styling activity where I was given a scenario, like a date night or concert, and had to pick out a complete outfit, including accessories and shoes if available.

The interview was super helpful in understanding the company's culture and future plans. Mostly, they wanted to know about my background and what I'm passionate about. We also chatted about how I could grow within the company. The main thing is to be enthusiastic, genuine, and really show off your personal style and interest in fashion!

I applied and they got back to me in a few days. I interviewed and was told I'd hear back on Monday, but it wasn't until Thursday that I got a rejection email on Friday. The assistant manager who interviewed me was rude and seemed judgmental of my answers, mostly wanting to talk about the culture. My sister applied and got an offer a week later, but they rescinded it about a week after that because of her holiday availability, even though it was August. It seems like they only hire for holidays, which is weird because they only seem to care about your availability during holidays. It doesn't seem like a great brand to work for; it feels like they just want to take advantage of their workers.

I applied directly through the URBN careers page and then hit up the recruiter on LinkedIn back in October. First, there was a phone screening, and then I had a video interview with the manager I'd be reporting to. After that, she set me up to meet with her boss, the creative director. All these calls were chill and pretty easy. When I finished my second interview with the creative director, she told me I'd have to do a project. It took about 2 weeks to get the brief and I had 2 weeks to finish it. I tried to ask the recruiter questions about the project a few times, but she never got back to me, which was super annoying. I submitted the project in early December but didn't get to present it until the end of December. The reporting manager gave me a rough idea of when they'd decide. I never got an email or anything about the team's decision, so I emailed the talent manager I'd been talking to. The response/decision came at the end of January – they weren't offering me the job. The feedback they gave was kinda vague and generic. I asked for more specific feedback but didn't hear back. Basically, they said they'd recommend me for other roles at the brand, and when another role opened up on the team 2-3 months later, the recruiter ghosted my emails. It was a bummer to go through a 3-month process with such bad communication. Based on my experience and what others have told me, FP and URBN recruiters seem to string candidates along. The managers seemed like they genuinely wanted to help develop talent on their team. The recruiting team needs to communicate better with talent and candidates.
