Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Free People.
Buyer
I applied online in early December for the internship program. After applying, I received a link for a video interview that I had to complete within 2 days. About two weeks after that, I was invited to an interview day at their Home Office in January. I had one interview with the Talent Director and another interview with two buyers. The interviews were in the same room, which made it feel less nerve-wracking! I got an offer in late March. It was a long process, but totally worth it!
- Which Free People girl do you identify as?
Assistant Buyer
The interview process started with an automated system asking basic questions about style. After that, a recruiter reached out and gave me a trend project with a deadline. I submitted the project the day before it was due. However, the recruiter did not respond even after I reached out three times over three weeks. I even asked if my candidacy was still active, but they still wouldn't answer. It was very unprofessional and seems to be a common issue with Free People.
- Where would you go shopping if you had an unlimited budget?
Buyer
It was a lengthy and drawn-out process, taking 3 months and involving 13 interviews. Communication between interviews was minimal, and interviews were frequently canceled or rescheduled at the last minute.
- Can you name our competitors?
