First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Express Scripts.
Business Analyst
I went through two rounds of interviews. The first was with the hiring manager and a senior manager, and the second was with someone on the team. Both interviews were conducted over the phone with video. The hiring manager interview was about 45 minutes to an hour and covered both technical and business-related questions. The interview with the team member was about 30 minutes.
- Can you describe your knowledge of claims data?
- Tell me about your understanding of health insurance terminology.
- What is your experience with SQL code?
Quality Auditor
The recruiter was good but it seemed hard for them to fill this role because of the hiring managers. The recruiter mentioned they hadn't heard from the managers in a week during the initial phone screen, which was a bit of a warning sign. It took another week to schedule a panel interview with the three hiring managers. One manager didn't show up at all for the interview without any explanation. They asked standard questions about previous work experience and Excel skills. One manager was fine, but another was typing and messaging the whole time, which was really distracting. The interview itself was long but not difficult. They mentioned they'd make a decision in two weeks, but the candidate indicated they wouldn't accept a job offer if one came.
- How skilled are you with Excel?
- Can you describe your previous work experience?
Eligibility Specialist
The interview process was quick. I went through a placement service. The overall interview process was simple once you made it past the initial interview with the placement service. I had a total of 3 interviews. If you have any medical background, that would be a plus. Medical terminology and ICD-10 codes knowledge is a plus also.
- What is your approach to dealing with an agitated patient or their parent?
- Do you have knowledge of health insurance?
- How would you address a situation where a team member isn't contributing their fair share?
Financial Analyst
The interview process involved a 15-minute phone screening with a recruiter, followed by a 30-minute interview with the hiring manager. Then, there was a 30-minute panel interview with three analysts. Unfortunately, I was ghosted after the panel interview, and the job posting still indicates an ongoing interview process. About two weeks after the panel, I applied for another position at the same company and got an email for a phone screening. I replied with my availability, but never heard back. All in all, I felt the interview was pretty straightforward, and the people I met were friendly. The main downside was getting ghosted twice.
- Can you start by telling me a little about yourself?
- Describe a time you dealt with an upset employee or stakeholder.
- What is your motivation for wanting to work at Express Scripts?
