First, a recruiter called me. Then, I had a 60-minute virtual chat with the hiring manager where we talked about my background and experience and some technical questions. I didn't make it past this stage. The following was supposed to happen: A 30-minute virtual pair programming session with senior engineers. Then, an on-site interview that was about 3 hours long. This included a 60-minute meeting with the hiring manager, a 75-90 minute architecture interview with whiteboarding and technical questions, and a 30-minute chat with the VP. I emailed to follow up two weeks after the second interview since I hadn't heard back, and they told me they went with someone else. It's a shame they couldn't bother to inform me themselves.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I had an initial chat with a recruiter over the phone for about 30 minutes to go over my background and the job details. Then, about a week later, I had a 30-minute virtual meeting with the Senior Creative Director. A week after that, I went in person to the DC office for a longer interview, which had two 30-minute sessions. The first session was with the Art Director and the Sr. Corporate Marketing Manager. The second session involved the Senior Director of Video Production and the UX/UI Designer. To wrap things up, I had a final interview with the VP of CoStar Marketing and the Senior Creative Director again. Unfortunately, I got rejected about a week after the last interview.

So, there are 2 rounds. The first one is a video screen via Zoom or Teams with a manager. They might ask about your resume or just do a vibe check, depending on the manager. Make sure to stand out in this first round! Then, the second round is a Power Day, which is in-person and lasts for 2 days. The first day is more of a casual networking thing where you can meet some of the interviewers in a relaxed setting, and you'll know who they are beforehand. The second day is the actual interviews: two panels, each with two managers, so four managers total. Sometimes a software engineer might join one of the panels.

I applied for an Account Executive position at apartments dot com in Seattle, WA. The recruiter asked me where I live, and when I said I was in the Seattle area, they asked if I would be willing to relocate. They mentioned they were looking for someone who lives in Olympia, and that I'd be ineligible unless I relocated. My application was then marked withdrawn in their system, even though the role is still posted in Seattle, which is quite odd.
