Analyst
The interview process started with a recruiter screen, followed by a 1:1 chat with a team member, then an assignment which had some open-ended questions about shipping lanes. After that, there was another 1:1 with the manager, and it concluded with a loop interview. They discussed some of the assignment answers in the second interview. It was a very long interview process. No feedback was provided after the loop interview.
- Can you share an experience where...?
- Walk me through a process you were involved in...
- Discuss your answers to the shipping lanes assignment.
Sales Specialist
So, I had phone interviews twice before getting called in for in-person interviews. I was there for a while, met with a bunch of people, and felt pretty good about it. They said I'd hear back in about a week. Two weeks went by with no word, so I checked in. They said it was delayed but coming soon. Another two weeks passed and still nothing, even when I tried reaching out again. I was interviewing elsewhere so I moved on, but it felt weird not hearing back. Just out of curiosity, I reached out one more time and found out my main contact was out. I guess they should have handed off my application, but whatever. They realized I'd been waiting over a month and still no update on my candidacy. I eventually figured out Convoy's culture wasn't for me. The whole thing was super awkward and left a bad impression.
- Can you share an example of a challenging situation you encountered and how you managed it?
- Walk me through a time you needed to convince someone to agree with your perspective.
- What's your approach when dealing with a dissatisfied client?
Machine Learning Engineer
This was a really great interview process, probably the best I've experienced. The interviewers were all very professional and the questions were appropriately challenging. Knowing BFS/DFS concepts would be very helpful. They included behavioral questions in every round, and what was unique was that they focused on positive aspects, like asking about a great colleague and lessons learned from them. The HR team was also very reasonable and not pushy at all. Although I ended up choosing a different company for personal reasons, I'd definitely recommend this place.
- What are some positive attributes you've observed in past colleagues, and what valuable lessons have you learned from them?
- Solve a LeetCode medium problem, likely involving BFS/DFS.
- Solve another LeetCode medium problem, likely involving BFS/DFS.
Operations Research Scientist
The interview process is pretty similar to other tech companies. It typically involves two technical screens, though I only had one because I did an extended in-person screen at a conference. Then there was a 4-hour on-site, which was virtual for me because of the pandemic. The on-site had four parts: a case study in Operations Research, a coding challenge, behavioral questions from a bar raiser, and then behavioral and resume-related questions from the hiring manager. I have to say, the recruiter who helped me throughout was amazing. They were super responsive to emails and questions and really helpful with the salary negotiation.
- How would you model an Operations Research Problem mathematically and what's your approach to solving it?
- Can you implement a heuristic for an Operations Research Problem in your chosen programming language?
- What are some typical problems encountered with heuristic routing algorithms?
