The whole process went really well and smoothly. They got back to me pretty fast after and told me all about the next steps when I asked. I got through the interviews in just a few rounds and got my offer soon after.

The whole thing took over two months. First, there was an initial phone screen, then a 45-minute chat with the hiring manager. After that, I had a take-home assignment. The final stage was four 45-minute interviews: three interviewers from my potential team and one from a different department to be impartial. It reminded me a lot of an Amazon interview process, but honestly, Convoy's felt a bit off, like they copied the system without really understanding the 'why' behind it. It felt more like an equation than a process. I had to chase my recruiter multiple times for updates on my initial interview or the homework. For the final panel interview, one interviewer was someone I'd already met. Another interviewer had someone walk into their background and then seemed to be communicating with that person instead of me, nodding along while I was answering. Then the last interviewer admitted they hadn't looked at my resume and gave me only a minute to explain my background. It was really frustrating after waiting two months to get to that final stage and have these issues. They said they were looking for a people manager, and my feedback was I did great on people management but someone else was better on metrics. They also said my answers weren't diverse enough, even though I had prepared many examples. Overall, I learned a lot, but I wouldn't recommend Convoy unless you're prepared for them to put in way less effort than they expect from you.

I applied directly for the Manager - Brokerage Operations role and was invited to interview. The first step was a conversation with the Director of Brokerage Operations. I found it a bit strange they didn't have freight experience but I guess it makes sense given the company's offerings. We had a good chat and I moved on. Next, I spoke with a "Manager" and that conversation also went well. After that, I was given a homework assignment focused on profit margin understanding, rather than practical freight operations or problem-solving. This seemed to indicate a focus on profit over operational skills. Unfortunately, after all this, I received a vague rejection. I invested significant time, only to be treated impersonally with a generic "keeping your resume on file" comment. I feel if a candidate invests time and completes assignments, a clearer explanation for not proceeding would be more helpful and allow for learning, especially after multiple stages.
