Account Manager
It was a very long and tedious interview process. I had three virtual interviews, then I was asked to complete a timed test and write an essay about my career experience. Unfortunately, my computer had issues, and I couldn't finish the test, which was a bummer.
- Tell me about your experience in logistics.
- How would you approach managing a customer?
- Have you ever managed people before?
Senior Account Manager
I was referred by someone and a recruiter contacted me right away. The next 3 steps took over a month to get through. First, a recruiter call, then a coffee chat with the hiring manager, followed by a homework assignment with a timed Excel test and a written response. After that, an onsite interview with the team and other people in the organization. It was hard to know where I stood, especially waiting 12 days for feedback on the homework. I only got the names of my interviewers the night before, which wasn't helpful. The onsite was disorganized. No one greeted me, and I had to check in on an iPad. The recruiter was supposed to come down but never did. Two employees who walked by introduced themselves about 10 minutes after my first interview was supposed to start. The first interview was okay, but one interviewer was unprofessional, using profanity and clearly distracted by his computer. They kept talking over each other. The next group was led by a senior leader who was condescending and interrupted a lot, even joking about being a bad interviewer. The last two interviews were professional. I was told I didn't get the job two days later via email, which was okay since I wasn't left waiting too long.
- When faced with several competing tasks, how do you determine which ones to tackle first?
- On your first day in this position, what would be your biggest concern?
Account Manager
Started with a recruiter screening call. Then a first zoom interview, followed by three more separate zoom interviews. The whole thing was focused on their 12 company values. It felt like a waste of time and repetitive, totally not aligned with those values, especially the self-improvement and learning ones, because they give you no feedback afterward, no matter what. It's pretty clear some people don't stand a chance from the start. This place acts like it's different, but it's just like the rest. Very unprofessional too, lots of Zoom interviews. One time, I could hear a TV in the background. Another manager interviewed me from a hotel room on bad wifi while on vacation. The company is new and it shows, but not in a good way.
- Tell me about a situation where you had to persist in pushing back on something and eventually achieved the result you desired.
