So, I had an interview lined up, but it got cancelled on the day without any heads-up, which was pretty disappointing. The recruiter did call back after I emailed, which was nice and they explained they'd just hired someone the day before. But seriously, if you're gonna schedule interviews and have people take time off to prep, you should at least talk to them before offering the job to someone else. Cancelling last minute without even a chat is just not cool.

I applied for the Customer Success Associate job at Choco in London. They got back to me in a day, and the recruiter wanted to chat about my background and the position. The first call felt more like a friendly conversation than an interview. The recruiter explained the role, company, and salary, and then I talked about my experience. I answered everything honestly and confidently. Although they were impressed with my experience and desire to join, they decided against moving me forward because I lacked the specific technical skills required for the role, which they found in another candidate.

The interview process for this BDR role was pretty standard, following a rubric. It went smoothly, though I didn't make it through. Apparently, I missed a specific point on the mock pitch call that they expected, which I didn't realize was just a checklist item. They had a lot of rounds, maybe 7 to 10 in total. This included an in-person visit and a quick 15-minute chat with the CEO, which seems really tough to schedule if you're already working somewhere. I also noticed the two sales managers I spoke with both left the company around the same time recently.

This was probably the most unprofessional interview I've experienced. The hiring manager took the call from her car, camera off, and made it obvious she wanted to wrap things up quickly from the get-go. After I gave a summary of my sales background, she asked two follow-up questions which showed she hadn't actually listened to my first answer. She ended the interview in under 10 minutes, most of which I spent asking her questions, saying, 'Well I have a ton of these this week so.. we will let you know.' It was a total waste of my time, but good to know right away this isn't a place I'd want to work.
