Conversion Rate Optimization Manager
So I was offered a contractor role, and my start date was set for September 2025. About two weeks before I was supposed to start, they pushed it back another two weeks. Biggest red flag ever! Turns out they were still interviewing for the job I already accepted. They wanted someone local to San Francisco to come into the office, but they never mentioned that during the interviews. Then, less than a week before my new start date, they pulled the offer completely. This messed up my finances big time and could have been really bad for my career. I absolutely would not recommend this company to anyone.
- How would you manage and lead a CRO program?
IT Director
I met some interesting people, but they kept asking the same or similar questions at each stage, which felt repetitive. Early on, they mentioned I'd be managing a team including an IT Manager. I later interviewed with an IT Manager, but it turned out he was on a different team, which was a bit awkward. He was a cool guy, though; I just wish they'd clarified it was a different IT Manager. I then met the deputy CISO, but it seemed like they didn't have my information, and I had to go through my experience again. I was expecting more questions about security, compliance, incident scenarios, auditing, planning, budgeting, and projects.
- Can you share your experience managing teams across multiple offices and locations?
Financial Analyst
The interview process had 3 rounds: first an HR screening, then an interview with the hiring manager, and finally a panel interview. There was also a case study to test technical and presentation skills. The case study was a lot more than a typical Excel test; it involved building a detailed three-statement model in an investment banking style, plus an executive-level presentation. It realistically took over 10 hours to finish properly. A key thing to note is that they didn't specify the presentation format, so I put mine in the Excel file with an interactive dashboard instead of a PowerPoint. I found out later this disqualified me. Candidates should know that a PowerPoint-style deck is expected, even if they don't say so. The job pays about $140K-$150K base, which is on the low side for San Francisco for this kind of role. The interviews were professional and structured, but the case study has very high expectations and a significant time commitment, so consider that before applying.
- The interviews focused almost exclusively on technical questions, with virtually no attention given to personality, cultural fit, or behavioral questions.
- The process felt more like an exam than a two-way conversation, and there was little opportunity to demonstrate interpersonal skills or alignment with company values.
Product Manager
It was a pretty standard interview process. First, I had a recruiter screen, then a hiring manager screen. After that, there were two main interview loops. The first loop included a product case interview, a brainstorming session, and an interview about handling unclear requests. The second loop involved a deep dive into a technical product I'd worked on, a product case study, writing a PRD based on that case study, and evaluating some data.
- Can you describe a technical product you were involved with?
- Walk me through a product case.
- Let's brainstorm some ideas.
