Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Chime.

It started with a recruiter pre-screen, then an interview with the hiring manager. After that, there was a take-home technical challenge that took about 4-8 hours. Then, a "panel" interview. The last stage was a proctored technical challenge, which was done via Zoom with someone watching you code. It felt pretty intimidating, even though the proctor was nice. Most places use software for this, not a person.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your experience?

Started with a 30min recruiter screener chat about the role, team, and requirements. Then, a 30min chat with the hiring manager where we talked about specific past analyses and behavioral questions. Next was a take-home assignment which was a SQL exercise combined with a quantitative case study, involving SQL coding questions and a more in-depth case study on whether to launch a product feature. This was followed by a 4hr virtual on-site with PMs and Analytics, where I presented my take-home assignment. I also met with different team members and went through two in-person case studies. The process wrapped up with the recruiter.
- When launching a new product feature, what are the key aspects you'd want to test?
- Considering the provided background and assumptions, explain your approach to determining what to test for a product feature launch, identifying participants for the test, and defining success metrics.

Got contacted by a recruiter for an interview, but she had to reschedule last minute, which was a bit annoying but okay. First, there was a recruiter screen about my background. About two weeks later, I had a call with the hiring manager. I asked if it would be technical, and she said it was just to discuss my experience, and she sent over some materials about Chime. Unexpectedly, the hiring manager interview turned into a technical screen. It wasn't overly difficult, but it did catch me off guard. The interviewer's attitude was also quite off-putting; when I proposed ways to enhance Chime's services, he'd dismiss them by saying how things were already done or that the ideas were too basic. After that, the recruiter went silent.
- Why are you interested in Chime?
- Tell me about your experience with SQL and Python.
- Can you suggest ways to improve Chime's services?
