First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Cathay Pacific.
Director
I had a great prescreen call with the talent acquisition specialist where they asked good questions, offered great insights, and gave a good sales pitch for the company. However, the recruiter committed to following up by the end of the week with answers to my remaining questions but never did. They also didn't send a follow-up email, as the meeting invite came from a generic calendar management email. While I might not have been a fit, failing to follow through on a commitment reflects poorly on the brand. I eventually received the official decline email a few weeks later.
- Can you provide examples of sales enablement tools you have developed?
Customer Service Officer
The first round had 10 people in a group activity, with 3 TA specialists hosting and judging. We were given a rescue mission scenario and had to discuss how to complete it as a team. Everyone introduced themselves in one sentence, then we had 2 tasks where we all had to discuss solutions and reach an agreement. Afterward, the TA specialists announced who would move to the second round, a panel interview. About half the candidates didn't proceed. Overall, it was a good experience because the discussion went well and people were engaged.
- Can you introduce yourself in a single sentence?
Software Engineer
We had a full day of interviews at Cathay City. It included a group interview, a deck presentation, and a coding interview. There was also a walkaround of the facility. We also chatted with peers to tackle various projects. For the coding interview, we were allowed to use online resources, but no AI.
- Could you tell me about the services offered by Cathay?
- Tell me about tackling various projects with peers.
- Are we allowed to use online resources for the coding interview?
Intern
The interview process involved an online interview, followed by an online assessment, and then an in-person interview. The Hirevue questions were straightforward, asking about motivations for joining Cathay and examples of problem-solving and leadership experiences. The online assessment included tests for verbal reasoning, numerical ability, sequence completion, and English proficiency.
- Can you explain why you are interested in working for Cathay?
- Could you describe an instance where you demonstrated problem-solving abilities?
- Can you share an experience where you exhibited leadership qualities?
