The interview process had 3 rounds, and I credit them for investing the time. The first was an informal "get to know you" with the hiring manager. The second was with the global leader, who is directly under the Board. The third was with the UK leader, also directly under the Board. A main observation was that partway through the second interview, they started being very open about cultural challenges (put simply: too many egos!). This was significant because limited feedback and my gut feeling suggested they wanted someone to be "strong" with limited insights or appreciation. They asked a lot of questions, so with 3-4 minutes of the hour left, they asked "do you have any questions?" So overall experience was VERY MIXED!

  • How to approach a stakeholder?
  • How do your peers describe your strengths and weaknesses?
  • There were specific technical questions, possibly testing reaction to pressure more than accuracy, though likely both.

HR called and scheduled the interview, but didn't provide timeslots like normal. I gave them some slots, but HR responded very late, saying the Head wasn't available on the scheduled date, only before the interview date. They asked for slots again, I provided them, they said ok, then rejected again. This happened several times, felt disrespectful. In the interview room, I waited for the Head. He came in, gave me his name card and smiled. When the interview started, he scowled and said it would last 50 mins, which I didn't know beforehand. The interviewer asked many questions about my job, career aspirations, personality, etc. When the interview ended, it felt like he wasn't interested in me. I think it's ok as I'm not guaranteed an offer, but I expected a better interview arrangement. Given the HR guy kept changing the slots, I realized they might not be interested in my profile and wanted me to reject the interview myself.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The interview for the Marketing Executive role at Bupa is mainly about checking if you fit their values. They will ask about your experience with marketing campaigns, working with others, and handling tricky stakeholders. They also want to know how you put customers first and make sure things are compliant, particularly in regulated fields. Be ready to talk about working in a hybrid setup and juggling several projects. It's your moment to show how your skills and values match Bupa's goals.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Can you explain your reasons for leaving your last position?
  • Which tools are you familiar with?
  • How do you define customer obsession?

Coding Technical

I applied and was asked to do a coding exercise on some platform, which was pretty simple. Then I had a technical interview. They asked some reasonable questions, but a few really required a Google search or ChatGPT. I get they want to test knowledge, but the questions were so niche that I wouldn't know them offhand or be able to implement anything without researching it first. The vibe was off too; after I got one question wrong that was only half-right, half-wrong, despite answering many correctly, their faces just dropped like I was a failure. I knew then I wouldn't move on. If they want such specific answers, they should just hire an AI — an all-knowing, always-updated (but mostly wrong) jargon machine without human input.
