Interviewing for my role at G2 was a moment that made me super nervous, like most job interviews. You know, the sweaty palms, the leg bouncing, the fast heart rate -- all signs I'm about to interview. Being nervous isn't bad, but it usually means less confidence. This whole interview thing can make you anxious, no matter what side you're on.
- Can you share a skill that differentiates you from other candidates?

I applied online and then did this easy assessment. After that, a recruiter called me to ask about my availability and past work experience. Towards the end of the call, we scheduled an in-person interview with the branch manager. She gave me some good advice and mentioned that the manager was really looking for someone to 'blow her socks off.' They wanted someone knowledgeable about BB&T, with a friendly and engaging personality, and a strong desire to connect with clients. This meant I really needed to study up on BB&T beforehand. The interview was about 20 minutes long and involved STAR questions, but we ended up chatting for about 45 minutes afterwards about the job description and expectations. Her first question was 'Why BB&T?', and I shared facts about the company's history, mergers, and mission. She seemed really impressed and even repeated some of what I said later. She mentioned they had more interviews and I should hear back in about a week. Two weeks later, I got a call for an interview with the district manager. She asked me three questions before explaining the training process. She also said she'd call within a week but gave me her card. I sent a thank-you email, and the following Monday, I got a job offer.

HR reached out to me about tech roles, saying the hiring manager really liked my resume and was very interested during the initial phone screen. They also mentioned they had strong support for an upcoming merger and I was a top candidate. I was scheduled for an onsite interview a week later. However, at the start of the onsite, the recruiter told me there would be a third interview, which was unexpected. They also didn't offer to cover my hotel for an overnight stay in Raleigh. The HR manager said they'd speed things up and call in two days. The interview with the hiring manager and team lead went well and ran a bit long. I was told I might need to meet the team later, which felt like they were stalling. Then, I was ghosted by the recruiter, who stopped taking my calls after a week of contact. It felt like I was used as leverage for another candidate or an internal hire. I contacted the hiring manager a week later, and they said they were still processing, with the HR recruiter to follow up, but I never heard back. I eventually got a better offer elsewhere that same day. The office itself was rundown, with old cubicles and a dated, gloomy interior.
- Are you planning to stay with the company long-term if hired?

I had an initial call with a recruiter to set up a phone interview with the Hiring Manager. It seemed like they were looking for someone with more experience in some areas. About two months passed, and I figured they had moved on. Then, a different recruiter called to schedule another interview with the Hiring Manager. I mentioned we'd spoken two months prior to confirm they were still interested. The Hiring Manager didn't seem to recall our previous conversation, which wasn't entirely surprising. After being told I'd get a call the next day for a formal interview, the call never happened. Six days later, I left a voicemail for the Hiring Manager to check in, but I still haven't heard back and don't expect to. It's disappointing how companies treat potential employees, especially considering this was a company under the BBT umbrella.
- Could you describe your experience with Citrix Xenapp?
