I went through about five rounds of interviews for the Graphic Designer position, but they ended up picking another candidate even though I made it to the final round. I think it was between me and one other person because the recruiter was slow to reply after I finished all the interviews and the design challenge. This was back in 2020. A month later, they reached out about a different role. I did two more rounds of interviews for that one, but I refused to do another design challenge after putting so much effort into the first one without pay. I found another job before they could decide whether to offer me this position.

I had a call with the recruiter first. Then there was a technical screen that covered coding, my experience, and remote work setup. It also included Linux fundamentals, culture and soft skills, debugging and troubleshooting, and systems design. Finally, I had a check-in with the director of engineering. The team is very experienced; I actually learned a few things just from the interview process itself. I found the interview hard, but the interviewers were really encouraging and appreciated the difficulty and breadth of what they were asking.

It was a very awkward interview process, starting with an HR phone screen followed by a hiring manager interview. I didn't get good vibes from either conversation. It felt like they expected me to prove why they should even consider me, like I was interviewing at a FAANG company. A quick Google search and looking at Glassdoor reviews shows Wish isn't really in that category of tech companies and has some major ongoing challenges. Still, I wish them the best in the future. They do have a cool product idea.

I interviewed for two roles within the Comms design and brand marketing team. I had to complete a comprehensive design challenge and then was asked to create another design challenge for another team. The interview process was extremely long and drawn out (about 1.5-2 months per role). Eventually I withdrew my second application because I had expiring offers from other companies and the team was unable to expedite my offer/ decision. The recruiter was really nice and professional and guided me throughout the process but I would say the actual interview process was pretty arduous and tiring. My on-site felt designed poorly because I was being asked the same questions by different members of the team after each meeting.
