First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tavant.
Senior Android Engineer
Worst interview experience ever. I was out of town and they told me it was an in-person only interview on a specific Saturday. I asked them multiple times if it was a walk-in because I didn't want to change my travel plans or book a flight back to Blr just for a walk-in. They said no. They scheduled me for 9 am on Saturday, with flexible timing. I spent Rs. 14k to travel back to Blr and got to the office on Saturday morning to find 50-100 other candidates, just like a walk-in. Then I had to wait over EIGHT hours for the interview. Some candidates waited 10+ hours. What a fraudulent and dishonest company. If they can't even schedule interviews professionally for experienced engineers, imagine the incompetent teams and work environment.
- Can you tell me about your experience working with Android?
Senior QA Engineer
The interview process started with a L1 video conference which was about 1 hour long. It was a technical interview where they asked questions about the project's overall architecture, the differences between views and materialized views, snowflake schema, and how to find the 5th highest salary without using window functions. They also mentioned that apart from answering the questions, they check your cognitive skills.
- Can you explain the overall architecture of the project?
- What distinguishes views from materialized views?
- Could you describe the snowflake schema?
Analyst
It was a 2-3 technical round process, followed by a hiring manager and HR round. The focus was on SQL, problem-solving, coding, understanding, and case studies. However, the process was quite unprofessional, with constant delays. After I cleared all rounds, they didn't give me an offer, stopped responding to calls and emails, and eventually said it wasn't approved.
- Tell me about your SQL skills.
- Can you discuss your relevant projects?
- What is your experience in this area?
Engineering Manager
The interviewer was very unprofessional, constantly interrupting me. They made condescending remarks like, 'What have you been doing till now?' and 'With your experience, you shouldn’t be at your current level.' They asked me to spell out all my previous companies and wrote them down, which seemed disorganized. They expected me to have my camera on but kept theirs off. It felt like a toxic environment.
- Can you spell out the name of your previous company?
- Tell me about your experience.
- How do you manage your team?
