Data Engineer
The interview process has 3 rounds, all of them are technical. They mostly cover sql, python and spark. In python and sql, we need to code on some code editor and run the code. In spark, it would be about some optimization techniques and databricks.
- Can you solve this coding question about strings?
Data Engineer
So I interviewed and honestly, it was exactly as I feared from other reviews. The interviewer started with questions that weren't really relevant and didn't seem interested in my projects. They seemed to want specific answers they had in mind. Sometimes my answers were correct, but they'd say 'yes, but is there another answer?' which is just weird. It was a video call and I could hear them mocking and laughing during the interview, which is totally unprofessional. I think a senior person should be doing these interviews because the junior folks act like they know everything and it creates an ego clash when people with similar experience are interviewing each other.
- Mostly questions about SQL.
- Some questions about the main skills listed on the resume.
Data Engineer
I got a call from an HR at Tavant and the interview was set for 2 days later. It went really well, with questions focusing on Spark concepts. I felt pretty good about getting the job. I followed up with the HR for feedback, but they hadn't gotten it. They called me two days after that asking if anyone had contacted me with feedback, and it turned out they were trying to get feedback that was never submitted. The candidate should know the outcome either way.
- Can you explain Spark memory management?
- What are the basics of Spark?
