Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Tavant.
Senior QA Engineer
The interview process started with a L1 video conference which was about 1 hour long. It was a technical interview where they asked questions about the project's overall architecture, the differences between views and materialized views, snowflake schema, and how to find the 5th highest salary without using window functions. They also mentioned that apart from answering the questions, they check your cognitive skills.
- Can you explain the overall architecture of the project?
- What distinguishes views from materialized views?
- Could you describe the snowflake schema?
Quality Assurance Engineer
Tavant visited our college CUSAT for campus placements. The first round was an objective test managed by the Aspiring Minds team. It covered QA, reasoning, English, and computer-related questions, with a focus on program output analysis. Out of 160 students from our college, 40 passed this exam. Following that, a technical round was held, mainly asking questions about programming, projects, and our academic subjects. About half the students cleared this round. The final round was an HR interview, which primarily assessed communication skills and overall personality. 9 students were selected, and I was one of them.
- Questions were asked from different subjects in the technical round. They asked me about programming, Java (specifically JDBC & Servlets), software engineering, testing, DBMS, and HTML.
- Since I had developed an Android app, they inquired about Android and asked me to run the app.
- The HR round was conducted after the technical round, lasting about 15-20 minutes. It was quite friendly.
Quality Assurance Engineer
First, there was an aptitude test on AMCAT covering computer programming, English, math, and reasoning. This was followed by a technical interview and an HR interview. The technical interview was challenging, and the interviewer had to leave the call twice. It seems like sometimes the outcome depends on the interviewer.
- Can you describe how you would test an air conditioner?
