Account Executive
The beginning of the interview process was pretty smooth. The team was great at communicating and always got back to me quickly. I had an initial screening call, then talked to a sales leader and their manager. Things got a bit weird after that. In my third interview, the person seemed really unfocused and asked if I had talked to a few other people. I told him who I had spoken to, and he just continued, even though I hadn't met the people he expected. We chatted about my sales background and my approach, and the rest of the conversation was pretty casual. He asked about my hobbies and interests, which was fine because we had some common ground. To end the call, he mentioned I'd be moving on to the presentation part of the process. After that, they went completely silent for weeks. I followed up several times, and while I got some replies at first, eventually, there was nothing. Weeks later, I finally got an automated-sounding email saying they chose someone who was a better fit for the role.

Machine Learning Engineer
So I interviewed at Talkdesk for a Lead MLE / MLOps position. The interview experience was pretty neutral. I went through 4 rounds in total. The first three rounds were with the hiring manager and two technical interviewers. They were aligned with my background in MLOps and GenAI and the conversations were good and relevant. The fourth round was unexpected though. It was supposed to be about MLOps, but it became a deep dive into classical data science concepts, which wasn't in the job description and wasn't what the team was currently focused on according to earlier talks. My resume clearly shows my MLOps and GenAI skills, not traditional DS research. I get the need for a full evaluation, but it felt like they left the fitment round for last. A more organized process and upfront expectations would have been better. It was disappointing to spend almost 4 hours across rounds and then find a mismatch at the end. But everyone was professional and I liked learning about the company and its GenAI direction.
- Can you explain what a transformer is and detail all of its constituent blocks?
Technical Account Manager
It was a three stage interview process. The first round was with the director, the second with my direct manager, and the final round was a panel interview where I had to demo the product and solution. The pay was reasonable. I got the sense that the company is really desperate for talent right now and expects an accelerated onboarding with limited resources for ramping up. They've had multiple rounds of layoffs recently and aren't profitable yet. They are pushing hard for an IPO but the product isn't revolutionary. I saw some red flags in their company culture; the CEO seems to model himself after Musk, talks a big game but appears to have limited values.

Software Engineer
The recruitment process has 4 stages: First, an initial chat with HR. Then, a technical challenge to do at home and submit. Next, a technical interview to briefly discuss the challenge, followed by technical questions about hypothetical scenarios that arise from the conversation, to understand what solutions the candidate would adopt in each situation. Finally, an interview with managers focused more on soft skills and getting to know the candidate. After that, a proposal is presented.
