Intern
Before the interview, you might get a random call. Be ready to discuss your resume and past experiences. They might also ask why you're interested in working there, so make sure to research the company well to answer that. I haven't had the interview yet but will update later.

Data Engineer
So I interviewed for this Sr. Data Engineer role, and the whole process was kind of messy and went on for way too long. First, I had this panel interview with 5 people, thinking it was the real deal, and it lasted almost an hour. It was super draining, and they asked some questions that felt like they were repeating themselves. During this chat, I asked about the AI/ML stuff mentioned in the job description, wondering how much I'd actually use it. To my surprise, they told me I wouldn't be doing any hands-on AI/ML work at all, which felt like a major red flag, especially since it was listed as a requirement. Then, a few days later, I got an email saying that previous chat wasn't the actual interview, just a screening! They then laid out what they called the 'formal interview' process: I'd have to prep and give a 10-12 minute presentation on a past project, answer behavioral questions using a specific 'SHARE' method, and then go to their downtown LA office for an in-person session lasting up to 1.5 hours. What was really frustrating was that nobody mentioned any of this upfront – not that the first meeting was just a screening or that I'd need to prepare a presentation. The lack of transparency about the whole process was a bummer and just showed poor communication. Honestly, the whole thing felt over the top and like they didn't respect my time, so I pulled out. Companies should be clear about their interview steps from the start so people know what they're getting into.

Customer Service Representative
The hiring process for this job took forever and was a total waste of my time. They had a really small window to apply. First, you had to do this psych evaluation that took anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes, which felt way too long. If you passed that, you moved on pretty fast to the next part. The second part was another test with simulations, scenarios, and some math problems - also really long. I spent a lot of time and effort on all of this, but nobody from HR ever contacted me or even interacted with me. It felt so fake, like it was all just a simulation. I finished this whole thing back in March, and they said to wait for physical interview dates. I just got an email in August saying they aren't interviewing again until early 2025. It's a joke. It's a shame because SoCal Gas is a great company, and I expected better.
- How much patience do you possess?
Engineering Intern
I sent in my application online and then for about a week, I just got random calls without any emails. After two weeks, I finally got an email saying they couldn't reach me via email and this was my last shot. I managed to reply and got an interview with two managers. It was a Zoom call where they asked me general questions about challenges I'd faced, my strengths and weaknesses, and my past experiences. I thought I did okay, but I didn't hear back after the interview.
- Can you share a situation where you encountered a problem and how you resolved it?
