Associate Engineer
After applying and hearing back from HR, you'll take a personality test. If you pass, you might get invited to the first of two interviews. The first interview is a panel with managers at the Gas Company Tower, where they'll take notes and ask questions. It's a bit like a test to see if you fit the company culture, similar to City or County of LA interviews. It can be tough to know how you did because HR and the volume of applicants make it hard to get feedback. Passing this gets you into an applicant pool, and it might take a while to get called for the second interview, which can be a long process for big companies. The second interview differs by department and team. I had two: one was a relaxed, informal phone interview via email, which felt rushed as they seemed eager to fill positions quickly. The second was an in-person interview at the Company Tower, which felt great. I had a really good experience and declined the offer because I had another opportunity I preferred, though the offer was competitive. Applying here isn't quick; I applied in March, got the first interview in April, was ghosted until July for the first second interview, and had the second second interview in September. Expect a 5-6 month wait for the second interview. Remember, experiences vary due to the company's size and different teams, so your second interview might differ.
- Can you tell me about yourself?
Associate Engineer
The interview involved a panel of three managers from different teams. It felt like a high-volume recruitment process, with many candidates being seen. There were two separate interview sessions happening simultaneously with different panels. My impression was that they interview a lot of people regularly, and managers pick whoever interests them. It was like an audition, and it seemed like the managers didn't review applications beforehand. The questions weren't technical; they were mostly hypothetical "what if" and situational questions. I was disappointed not to receive an offer. One of the managers specifically commented on my potential to fit into his team.
- Can you share the biggest mistake or failure you experienced while working on a task and how you managed it?
- Describe a time you made a mistake or failed at a task and explain how you handled the situation.
- Tell me about a significant failure you encountered during a task and your strategy for dealing with it.
Associate Engineer
I had my group panel interview in early April. The questions had nothing to do with engineering and were more situational and personality questions. The people didnt seem interested from the being evn though i had a 3.5 gpa and had applicable internship experience. They did not pay attention to my responses and the hr people there are really fake and unprofessional. I emailed the hr department to get an estimate of a timeline of when canadiates would be informed of there choice but to my surprise they did not respond and after a month and half i recieved a rejection email. Overall the interviewers were rude and the HR department completely unprofessional.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to explain something technical to an audience that wasn't technical?
- Tell me about a time you had to choose a piece of equipment and how you evaluated your options.
