The hiring process for this job took forever and was a total waste of my time. They had a really small window to apply. First, you had to do this psych evaluation that took anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes, which felt way too long. If you passed that, you moved on pretty fast to the next part. The second part was another test with simulations, scenarios, and some math problems - also really long. I spent a lot of time and effort on all of this, but nobody from HR ever contacted me or even interacted with me. It felt so fake, like it was all just a simulation. I finished this whole thing back in March, and they said to wait for physical interview dates. I just got an email in August saying they aren't interviewing again until early 2025. It's a joke. It's a shame because SoCal Gas is a great company, and I expected better.

Behavioral Technical

The interview is pretty much behavioral questions. Unless it's job specific, technical questions aren't asked except for the basics of Office 365, focusing on Outlook, SharePoint, and Excel. They use questions to see how you'd fit with the team.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Tell me about a time you had a difficult coworker. How did you handle the situation to get your work done and collaborate well?

I applied for the bilingual customer service rep position. The very next day, I got an email asking me to come in for a testing. I said yes and went. The testing had three parts: Yellow Baseline Testing, Personality Test, and CSR Response Testing. The Yellow Baseline part tested my grammar, basic math, and word problems. If you passed that, you went on to the personality test, which shows your personality type. Pass that, and you do the CSR Response testing. For this, you listen to a call and pick how you'd handle the customer from 6 choices. It was pretty straightforward, and I found out my results the same day. The whole testing took about 3 hours.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • The CSR Response Testing was the toughest because there were so many choices, some almost right and some clearly wrong.
