First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Singapore Airlines.
Flight Attendant
First, we had an interview day with a few rounds. We started with a physical check to see if you could reach a certain height. Then, we moved to a group discussion to see how you work with others. After that, there was a panel interview where they asked more in-depth questions about why you want to work here, your past experiences, and your customer service approach. We also did a debate or a situational round where we discussed some business or general topics. Following that, there was a fitting for the uniform and a check of your appearance. Finally, they verified our documents and made us contract offers if we passed.
- We were separated into two groups for some debate questions.
Pilot
It's a pretty simple process: they'll check and confirm all your application info against the documents you brought. Then you just wait to be called by your interviewer. There will be two interviewers – mine were a Head/Management Pilot and an HR person. They'll be serious the whole time. It'll be fast. After you're done, you just leave the place and hope you get called for the Final Interview.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Regarding your passion, how have you shown it?
- What do you know about what it's like to be a Pilot?
Cabin Crew
The interview process involved a few stages. I advanced past the initial video interview and was invited to a walk-in interview, so I didn't go through the introductory round. This round typically involves self-introductions and explaining your motivation for joining the company, plus a bonus question about your suitability for the role. Next, there was a group debate. While losing wasn't necessarily bad, your contributions and communication style were important. The key was to remain polite, avoid being overly aggressive or defensive, and present your views while remaining receptive to others. Following that, I had a one-on-one interview with two or three interviewers. During this session, it was important to be respectful and discuss your past service experiences and how you handled challenging situations. The final step was a uniform fitting.
- Could you describe any difficulties encountered in customer service roles and detail your strategies for resolving them?
Cabin Crew
The interview process was round based elimination. The first round was height requirement, if you couldn't pass this stage you were eliminated instantly. Then ushered into a holding room to wait for the 2nd round where you will be split into a team and given questions to answer. After the round, they will tell you if you are eliminated. The final round is an interview with 3 SIA staff, presumably one cabin crew senior, and 2 other HR staff. They will ask you tough questions to "break" you and see how you react. People in front of me have came out crying so do prepare yourself. If you pass this round, congrats! you will be asked to walk around and afterwards sign a contract while you await the medical appointment details.
- Is money the root of all evil
