First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Russell Reynolds.
Product Executive
The ghosting is real. They will reach out to you, indicate interest, set up time to discuss an open role with one of their clients….and then gone. You won’t hear from them, even if you follow up several times. In these times where people are struggling, why give someone hope? Just indicate that the candidate isn’t in the running anymore or perhaps the company isn’t hiring that position. Just something. Be a human being please.
- Can you tell me about your background?
Executive Search Analyst
The interview process was very smooth, with 5 rounds of interviews including a case interview. The interviewers were very agreeable and helpful in the process, they led the conversation and asked typical behavioural questions.
- What are your long-term career aspirations over the next 5 years?
- Can you share an instance where you effectively managed your time and paid close attention to detail during your studies or previous work?
- What do you believe is one of your key strengths?
Project Coordinator
I interviewed at Russell Reynolds in 2021. First I spoke with a recruiter, then I had initial interviews with the office manager and a couple of project coordinators, all over Zoom. The office manager gave a full overview of the role and expectations. The project coordinators I spoke to were helpful and clear on the day to day realities and demands of the position. One interview was sort of off-putting though. The PC was drinking wine and being the "bad cop," asking how I would deal with situations X Y Z, which set off alarms. I'm not sure if she was trying to scare me off or was drunk, but it was inappropriate.
- How would you handle a situation where a call with a potential client or a final candidate for a role conflicts with another scheduled event?
Marketing Director
The process wasn't as professional as it seemed. A recruiter contacted me, and we had an initial screening meeting. Then, there was a second meeting with an Executive Director and their executive assistant. Scheduling these meetings was a bit rigid. The Executive Director then informed me that my profile seemed more sales-oriented, and they decided not to proceed. When I contacted the company about the position, they stated they had never given feedback to Russel. This is not a good recruitment option for executive roles. The process felt unfair.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Describe a situation where you made a mistake.
- Could you elaborate on your marketing experience?
