Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Russell Reynolds.
Consultant
This interview process had too many stakeholders involved with 8 interviews crammed into one day. By the end of the day, you're very tired and don't feel like you're making an impact anymore.
- Can you tell me about your background?
- Walk me through your past experience.
- Describe your relationships.
Consultant
It was pretty unstructured and disorganized. I talked to two Research Associates first, and they gave me two next steps. First, they suggested I talk to someone in the consultant role to ask about specific things. Second, I had to take the Caliper assessment to see if I'd be a good fit. The interview process ended after they looked at my Caliper results. They said I would be good at the job and do well, but the assessment showed I wouldn't be "happy long-term." It feels like a way out or a broken system to put so much stock in a personality test, especially when the reason for not moving forward is what the test said about my long-term happiness. Shouldn't that be my call? Shouldn't they focus on how well I can do the job? They also wouldn't answer my questions about pay, pointing me to someone else twice, and I still don't know.
- Can you tell me about the Caliper Assessment?
Consultant
The interview process at RRA was quite thorough. I had the chance to speak with about 20 people from various parts of the company, and I also had to take some competency tests. It was a good experience meeting so many people at different levels in the firm, which helped me get a better sense of what the job would be like.
- Can you tell me how your past experience has made you a good fit for this position?
