We met at a cafe for the interview, which felt pretty laid-back and friendly. Mostly, they asked things like 'If you could design a new collection for Ralph Lauren, what would you design?' and 'What are your goals with this company or this job?'. The hiring manager was really easy to talk to and seemed keen on understanding my personality alongside my skills for the role.

This interview was a complete waste of time. After a very brief initial phone call with HR an interview was arranged with the hiring manager and I was briefed that it would be a discussion around my CV and my experience. The question part of the interview was fine, very general questions about the role and my experience. I then had to complete an Excel test on the first interview which had not been communicated to me prior to call. I was given a huge piece of work to complete in around 30 minutes then feedback on the call. I was told it was disappointing I didn’t finish however my interview latest around 2 hours. I was then told I could complete in my own time and send back. It is completely unfair to put candidates through this and I have never experienced this on a first stage interview.

The interview process started with a quick chat with HR about my background. Then I was invited to the office for another interview with HR and the Hiring Manager. The office was a mess because they were moving, which was quite unsafe. A video call would have made more sense. During the 30-minute interview, HR mostly asked me to go over my resume. The Hiring Manager seemed disengaged, making me wonder if they already had someone in mind. Eventually, the Hiring Manager asked about my current discount. A week later, HR informed me I didn't get the job because I wasn't a cultural fit, despite interviewing well. They went with another candidate who was a better cultural fit. I was surprised by the 'cultural fit' reasoning, especially in today's environment.

My interview with Ralph Lauren's recruiters wasn't great. The recruiter was late and seemed unprepared. They rushed the call and didn't know my resume or background since they had just started. When salary came up, the recruiter mentioned a number about $30k lower than what was posted on LinkedIn, which was confusing and made me question their honesty. I tried following up several times but got no response, which felt disrespectful. I expected better professionalism from a big company like Ralph Lauren, especially for a leadership role in HR. They should train their recruiters better to make the process respectful and efficient.
