The interview process was really thorough and well-done. Scheduling was easy, and they were really clear about everything. I got helpful prep notes and case study instructions beforehand, which was great. The TA team was super encouraging too. I had more than 6 interviews plus a case study, which took a good chunk of time, but it seems like they're really selective and want to ensure it's a mutual fit.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

I had a one way interview that was very straight forward and honestly fun to go through. Then met with Valeriya to discuss the role and my experience and make sure we're aligned. Then had the final interview with the teamleader who had a small assessment in the form of a 20 min live chat simulator which was great and helped me get a feel of what a working day at Preply may look like. I was provided with all the necessary tools to succeed in this, everyone was welcoming and accommodating, they made me feel at ease and did a great job encouraging me to showcase my experience and abilities. It felt like I've been working with them for a while! I wasn't nervous at all! Loved the experience.

I had a bunch of interviews, starting with a recruiter call, then a tech screen, another tech interview, one with an Engineering Manager and Product Manager, and finally a culture fit interview. Everything seemed to go okay until the end. The recruiter told me I was getting an offer, but then they added a last minute "chat" with a director and another engineer. They didn't tell me it would be a behavioral interview, so I wasn't ready with my examples, and since I wasn't actively job hunting, I couldn't just make them up on the spot. They rejected me saying I lacked experience and excitement.

Behavioral Presentation

First, I had a screening call with the internal recruiter to go over my background and why I was interested in the job. Then, I chatted with the hiring manager who wanted to dive deeper into my experience. After that, I had a call with the CPO. There was a small assignment to complete beforehand which led to a discussion about the existing product and my thoughts on how to make it better. Finally, there was a take-home task followed by a presentation where I had to consider two potential product changes and argue for one of them.
