Team Lead
The interview process was great, with prompt updates and feedback provided, avoiding unnecessary waiting. Lunch was provided, and the HR manager was very friendly. The process involved three stages: an email writing assessment, an operational round with situational questions, and a final HR culture fit round focusing on personality.
- Can you describe situations related to the role?
- What would you do in specific scenarios?
- How do you handle operational challenges?
Engineer
I interviewed with Poshmark, and it felt pretty unreasonable. They give you a hefty case study that seems like actual work they need done. Mine was about global network and endpoint standardization, compliance, IAM design, rollout plans, and risk planning. This is the type of project a company would normally assign to a whole team, not a candidate with a three-day deadline. They also asked for sample automation code and scripts within the presentation. I've never seen an interview ask for actual automation for a fake scenario. It felt like they were trying to get free work instead of fairly evaluating skills. The manager has been there for a long time and has a consulting background. Based on the questions, it didn't seem like she had much real management experience. Overall, the process felt like a waste of time and was disrespectful to candidates.

Software Engineer
Applied online. Got a recruiter call within a week, who talked about Poshmark’s culture, team, and product. Then, she mentioned a 1-hour technical interview with LeetCode-style questions, followed by a Super Day. I went into the technical interview. The question was an easy LeetCode-style problem about strings, which I solved quickly. We had extra time, so I discussed Android and company culture. The interviewer then asked why I used Python, mentioning that Kotlin was expected going forward, even though there was no rule against Python. I said I would have used Kotlin if informed earlier but prefer Python for Data Structures and Algorithms. I was rejected a couple of days later, which felt like a waste of time. The recruiter became unresponsive, sending only automated emails after the initial call.
- A simple LeetCode-style question involving strings or arrays.
Engineering Manager
So there was a technical round for the EM role, which was kinda interesting. They asked me to explain HashMap internals. The interviewer mentioned that the interview process should be changed for managerial positions and a different structure should be created. The recruiter was harsh and said I first needed to clear two technical rounds before she would disclose details about other rounds. I was not impressed by her rudeness and this was a bad red flag for me.
- Can you describe the internal workings of a HashMap?
- Could you elaborate on Android Fragments?
- What are your thoughts on LiveData in Android development?
