First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pixar Animation Studios.
2D Animator
The interview process started with some questions and answers. They asked me about how I can add impact to the company, what my understanding of creating animations is, and what my education level is. After that, they called me the next day and asked me to send my portfolio. I did, and that's how I got my first job.
- Can you mention the basic or traditional anime materials that are used when creating Animations?
Producer's Assistant
The interview process consisted of one phone screening and two subsequent interviews. One of these was conducted via zoom, and the other was an in-person interview for which I was flown out. Everyone I interacted with was really kind and respectful of my time. All in all, it was a good experience.
- Can you share an instance where you had to manage several tasks simultaneously?
Intern
Walking into the studio, I felt a mix of nerves and excitement. The panel looked quite serious, which made me a bit nervous. They asked about my portfolio, looking at each piece closely. As they asked questions, I talked about my passion for telling stories using animation. I also showed my software skills and explained how I come up with ideas. They mentioned a test project that I'll get to show my skills with under pressure. When I left, I wasn't sure how I did, but I was hopeful because I felt like I tried my best.
- What mentorship and professional development opportunities are available for interns in this role?
Analyst
Got a message from a recruiter on LinkedIn to start things off. Then had a phone screen, followed by two interviews. They made it sound like I was a perfect fit and would be starting soon. But then, after two weeks of silence, they said they needed to consider more candidates before making an offer. This led to another two weeks of waiting, and then they added one more interview round. After that, they ghosted me for three weeks, and I got no reply even after reaching out multiple times. They eventually sent a standard rejection email. The whole thing took two months.
- Could you share what sparked your interest in this particular role?
