The process is pretty straightforward, but it takes quite a while from application to the pre-employment check (which I didn't pass). In my case, it was about two months. Anyway, the test and the interview aren't hard to get through, you just need to know how to talk and get involved.

The process started with an HR interview from a consultancy to give a general idea of what they were looking for. Then, I had an interview with Mercado Libre's HR to analyze the candidate's profile for cultural alignment and address any doubts. The next interview was with the hiring manager, and this interview really depends on the person. In my case, I had a live logic challenge and a relaxed chat about how I build product strategy, lead teams, and generate impact through influence. I know of other cases where it was just a chat, and others where they were given an async challenge to defend live. After the hiring manager interview, there were two interviews with leaders who report to the hiring manager, which further evaluated the candidate. This could involve another challenge, discussions, or a live problem-solving exercise based on a past tribal experience. Finally, if you pass all these stages, there's a meeting with the MercadoLibre HR person and the hiring manager to extend the offer.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The process is long but well put together. It started with a first interview where they explain the role and the team. Then there was an interview with HR to check alignment with company values. Next up was a UX exercise. I liked that they gave enough time to develop it, as it allows showing how each person thinks and works. After that, there was a presentation of the challenge and a chat with the team leaders.

First, they sent an email for two tests: a cognitive one (20 mins) and a technical HackerRank test with 12 questions in 1 hour 50 mins. The first question was a simple data structure exercise. The second was harder and took most of the time, involving API interaction with pagination via queries and a specific task. The rest were multiple-choice on data structures, testing, algorithmic complexity, HTTP, GitHub. The last question gave a scenario to solve with a prompt. After 3 weeks, they contacted me with job info, and I'm waiting for their email to proceed.
