First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Maximus.
Project Manager
The interview process took over a month to complete. I filled out the application online, and about three weeks later, I was contacted by someone from Human Resources. We discussed the position and some of the high-level details. Then another two weeks passed before they reached out again to set up the first interview. The second interview was with three of directors from different programs that I would be working with, and the final interview was with the managing director of the Federal education program.
- Can you provide examples of how you would manage a stressful situation involving a coworker?
- Describe how you would address a scenario where a project team member is not completing their assigned tasks.
- What are your strengths?
Customer Service Representative
I applied online and was immediately sent a link for an assessment. Within 2 to 3 weeks, I received an offer. During the offer Zoom call, I was given clear instructions about the necessary background check information. This call was on a Wednesday, and I completed the background check by the following Friday. I then started on Monday with the option of day or evening classes. The starting rate was $17.42 per hour.
- The online assessment was comprehensive, with questions.
Software Development Engineer
the interview process usually has a few steps to see if you're a good fit. it starts with looking at your application, then a quick call or video chat. after that, you'll probably have a few interviews with the people you'd be working with, and these might involve technical tests, case studies, or behavioral questions. sometimes there's a final interview with a big boss or a group of interviewers, and then they decide if they want to offer you the job.
- What is your motivation for joining our company?
Specialist
Got an offer about a week after the interview, but turned it down because the recruiter was unprofessional. We had already talked about my salary expectations during the first call, but she kept calling and texting to re-discuss it, trying to get me to accept less money even though my ask was within the range they advertised. It was weird she kept calling and texting about a small $3,000 difference, especially for a big company like Maximus. It made me wonder how they value candidates if a small gap is a big deal. I didn't want to negotiate more and declined. Two weeks later, I got an offer from a bank that was double what Maximus offered.
- What motivates you to apply for this specific position?
- Could you discuss some technical aspects related to the company's core values?
