Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Maximus.
Intern
After submitting my application, I had my first interview online, followed by a second interview in person. After the evaluation, I received the final notice. The whole process was pretty standard, and the interviewers were nice and respectful to all candidates.
- Can you tell me about your main strengths and what you could work on?
Intern
After applying with my resume, I got contacted for an interview. It was a one-on-one with a really nice interviewer who was super personable and made me feel comfortable. It was a typical behavioral interview focusing on handling conflicts and teamwork, though I felt my answers could have been better. I was told I'd hear back in about 7 days. When I didn't hear anything, I reached out to the interviewer and was told I'd get an update later that week. Still no word, so I figured I didn't get the job. Apparently, this happened to others from my school too, so I think they only inform those who are selected.
- Can you share an instance where you encountered a conflict with a member of your group?
Intern
I had an on-campus interview. It was all behavioral questions, like asking for a time I convinced someone else to do something or a time I failed. It wasn't too bad. I passed the first round, and they said they'd fly me to Virginia for the next one. But then they never got back to me. On the day I was supposed to fly out, they told me they had to reschedule for the next week. To top it off, they never even scheduled another meeting. Definitely the worst experience I've had with a company.
- Can you share a time when you had to persuade someone to do something?
- Describe an instance where you experienced failure.
