First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Maxim Integrated.
Applications Engineer
It was technical questions including solving circuits. I was then given time to work out the problems and then communicate my thought process. Overall the problems were basic electrical engineering circuits but they wanted someone who has practiced a little.
- What did you do over the summer?
- Can you describe your experience with solving electrical circuits?
- How do you approach problem-solving for circuit-based challenges?
Electronics Engineer
After submitting my application online, the HR department contacted me to schedule an initial interview. The process involved: 1. An interview with HR. 2. An interview with the department manager. 3. A technical interview. 4. Awaiting further steps.
- Can you tell me about Operator Amplificator?
- What tools do you use?
- What do you know about system embedded?
Member of Technical Staff
I applied online and after a month, HR reached out via email to schedule the interview. The first interview was with an Indian interviewer who asked about my current job and education. Then, I had a long interview (about 1.40 hours) with a US interviewer, where we delved deep into my experience and projects from my courses.
- Tell me about your current job profile and educational qualification.
- Can you share details about your experience and the projects you completed during your courses?
- What do you know about the MOS device side?
Power Applications Engineer
The interview process included two initial 30-minute technical rounds. Following that, there was a virtual onsite stage with four separate interviews. I felt I answered most questions well, but ultimately didn't receive an offer. Later, I heard from other students that they bring in a lot of candidates for the onsite to create competition for a single role, and they might have already made their decision before the interviews even happened. It seems that even when interviewers say things like 'I'll be in touch' or 'I like your preparation,' it doesn't necessarily mean anything. However, it was still good practice for my future interviews.
- Can you describe your knowledge in power electronics?
- Could you please discuss your project?
