Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Maxim Integrated.
Business Manager
It was an all-day thing, including a lunch with two people. Some interviewers were pretty technical, while others focused more on business and sales. This role is definitely more on the BD/Sales side, not as technical as typical Marketing Manager roles at similar companies. The position itself seemed really interesting, almost like a mini 'CEO' role, blending BD, Product Management, and Marketing without needing deep technical expertise (you get support for product definition).
- Can you tell me about your experience interacting with customers?
- What's your experience like with international travel to Asia and Europe for sales?
- Tell me about doing sales-like work.
Business Manager
It was a typical semiconductor industry interview. First, I had a phone call where the hiring manager expressed their interest. Then, I had in-person interviews where I was asked a mix of business management and technical questions. Looking back, the technical questions weren't really related to the job.
- How do you prioritize short-term versus long-term revenue goals?
Support Manager
I had a phone interview with the recruiter, then another phone interview with a second recruiter, followed by a third phone interview with a third recruiter. After that, I had a phone interview with the hiring manager. There might have been an in-person interview, but I was eliminated quickly after being asked one of the bullet questions.
- Were the questions in bulleted form and fired quick and dirty?
