HR got in touch with me about 1 or 2 days after I applied, asking for some basic details. After that, a phone interview was set up. It lasted for an hour. I talked about my research for the first half hour, and the other half hour was spent on a fundamental question about inverting op amps.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • Could you discuss basic aspects of an inverting op-amp?
  • What are your thoughts on noise analysis?

First, you'll get a call to set up a technical phone interview. The questions will be pretty straightforward, mostly about RC circuits, basic Opamps, references, and noise analysis. If you do well on the phone interview, they'll call you back to schedule an on-site interview. The on-site is way harder and longer, usually from 9 am to 5 pm with a lunch break. You'll meet with about 6-7 engineers from the team who will grill you on analog circuit design fundamentals. Each chat lasts 45 min to an hour, with questions getting tougher. Make sure you know noise analysis, feedback, Opamp compensation, non-linearity, and mismatch inside out. If you make it through the 7-hour gauntlet and impress them, they'll offer you the job soon after.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Could you explain, using feedback theory, how source degeneration lowers non-linearity in common source amplifiers? Also, how does the harmonic distortion compare between an amplifier with and without degeneration?

I had 5 interviews over 3 weeks with 5 different people. It was a pretty smooth process overall, just took a while. The first one was over the phone, and the rest were technical interviews done over Skype.

Confirmed questions4 questions
  • Can you explain autozero amplifiers?
  • What are choppers amplifiers?
  • Describe offset cancellation techniques.
