First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Maples Group.
Software Engineer
It was good. Took about 5 weeks. The second interview felt very scripted and offered limited opportunity to showcase skills. The interview process involves application screening, aptitude/technical tests, group discussion, followed by technical and HR interviews, assessing skills, knowledge, communication, and cultural fit before final selection and offer.
- Regarding the Canadian healthcare system, what challenges do you foresee, and how might Maple tackle them?
CRM Technology Manager
I had a phone call first, then two chats with the hiring manager, and after that, I spoke with someone from legal and someone from finance. Then I was given a task to complete... About six weeks went by, and then the HR department let me know it was a 'no'. It's strange because the team I spoke with initially said they always give feedback. It seems like HR messed up and didn't pass my completed task along to the hiring team!
- Can you explain general data queries related to CRM systems?
Paralegal
It was a really drawn-out interview process. I first got invited to interview at the end of July for a date in August, then heard nothing for a month. After that, I was invited for a second interview in September. By November, they told me the role was on hold. The first interview was with HR, covering standard stuff like why I applied, why I left my last job, and what I'm looking for. When I asked about salary, they dodged it and asked what I was on before. This lack of pay transparency was disappointing. They did accept my figure of £47,000 for the remote London role, so it's around that. After the first interview, I waited over a month to be invited to the second round. The second interview was with a senior lawyer and HR via Teams. It was pretty relaxed. They asked how I stay organised, about challenges in past roles and how I dealt with them, what I thought would be tough in this job, and why I want to work there. The lawyer was engaged and informal, which was nice. Then HR asked a bunch of questions about other interviews I'm in, where I'm at with them, and their sectors, which felt a bit much and unnecessary. Again, I heard nothing for about 5 weeks after this. I chased HR twice and just got vague replies. Finally, in November, they said the role was on hold. I asked for feedback, but HR wanted to give it over the phone, which I declined. They eventually said 'you came across well.' That was it, despite all my prep. Very disappointing and frankly, a bit unprofessional.
- What was your previous salary?
- What would you find challenging in this role and what would you enjoy?
- What have you struggled with in other jobs and what have been your biggest achievements?
KYC Analyst
The interview process has been pretty good so far, though a bit lengthy. It started with a 30-minute initial screening call with the recruiter where we discussed my experience and resume. After that, I completed a timed online test. Then, I had an interview with two people that felt like rapid-fire technical questions, focusing on financial crime. Following that, there was a first-stage interview with two individuals from Maples, involving general questions and a walkthrough of a typical KYC case. I have another interview scheduled this week. Overall, it's been positive, just with more steps than I anticipated.
- How would you handle a case review for onboarding or remediation?
