Software Engineer
There was an online test that was a mix of coding and MCQs. It usually has technical MCQs and 1 or 2 coding problems, often in a web-based IDE. The MCQs cover basics and advanced stuff like Data Structures, Algorithms, OOP, SQL, and language specifics for Java, Python, etc. For coding, they usually ask about Data Structures & Algorithms like HashMap (GET/PUT), array stuff (like pushing zeros), strings (sliding window, reversal), and linked lists. Sometimes you have to debug or refactor a small function.
- coding question about balanced parentheses and MCQs about balanced parentheses
Tech Lead
So, the whole thing was a 30-minute video call. It started with me talking about my work history, projects I'd done, and my tech background. Then there was a quick coding exercise where I had to look at a little piece of code that had some bugs, figure out what was wrong, and explain how I'd fix it. The chat was pretty direct and technical, giving them a feel for how I think and solve problems, although the coding task itself was honestly pretty easy for a Tech Lead role. It was all put together well and handled professionally.
- Could you start by sharing your professional background?
- What can you tell me about your previous projects?
- Could you describe your technical experience?
Instructional Designer
A recruiter reached out about a long-term contract gig (up to 2 years) at a big transportation tech company, saying it was urgent and the hiring process was fast. But, the job title, what they expected, and the actual work were confusing. It wasn't clear if it was instructional design, program management, or training delivery, and this confusion grew. The offer had weird requirements about being flexible for EMEA and APAC time zones, even though I'm in the US (Eastern Time). They didn't say how often or how it would impact work-life balance. Also, they were still vague about the contract length, and I never got a formal agreement even when I asked. The main interviewer was super late for a call and ran way over time without checking if I was free, which gave a bad impression of leadership. The offer didn't include details on PTO, holidays, or benefits, and they didn't really follow up on my concerns or give me needed documents. It seemed like a role that wouldn't support a good workload or a healthy contractor relationship, and I had major concerns about transparency and communication.
- Would you be open to adjusting your work hours to cover EMEA and APAC time zones?
Account Executive
It was a pretty chill interview. They mostly wanted to chat about my background and understand my motivations for applying. The in-person meeting was all about getting a feel for who I am and whether I'd mesh with the team's vibe. They were looking to see if I had that go-getter attitude they value.
- Could you tell me about your relevant experience?
- What motivates you to pursue this opportunity?
- How do you see yourself contributing to our team's culture?
