Refugees Care Intern
The interview finished 20 minutes early, it was a panel with 3 people from the capital including HR and staff from other branches. The questions were a mix of basic and technical, and I was asked 8 questions in total.
- What makes you want this job?
- How would you deal with refugee confidentiality?
- How do you handle your time when things get stressful?
Programme Analyst
The whole hiring journey went on for nearly a year. It started with a written test, and then there was an interview. For someone experienced in this field, it wasn't too tough. The panel was friendly and seemed engaged.
- Could you explain your motivation for applying to this role?
- What relevant experience do you have concerning [topic]?
- Please share some details about your professional background.
Programme Officer
The interviews are about 45 minutes long and consist of 7-9 questions. For positions that are graded, the interview panel will have at least three people on it. These panelists will represent diversity in terms of gender, geography, and expertise. The hiring manager will be one of the panelists. Also, there will be a staff member from human resources, and a third person who has relevant technical knowledge. The interview will begin with some instructions, then the questions will be asked, and after that, you'll have the chance to ask the panel some questions.
- Tell us about your motivation for this role and why you are a good fit.
- Can you describe your specific technical skills related to this position?
- How do you integrate gender and diversity considerations into your work, encompassing your office, team, and projects?
Project Assistant
First, you'll need to complete a technical test specific to the role you're applying for. If you do well on that, you'll move on to an interview where they ask competency-based questions. It's a good idea to look over the IOM Competency Framework. Be ready for maybe one or two technical questions and at least one question about gender. The interview panel usually has 3-4 people.
- How do you manage conflicting competencies?
- Can you describe your leadership style?
- In what ways would you incorporate a gender perspective into your daily work?
