Technical Behavioral Presentation

First, you'll need to complete a technical test specific to the role you're applying for. If you do well on that, you'll move on to an interview where they ask competency-based questions. It's a good idea to look over the IOM Competency Framework. Be ready for maybe one or two technical questions and at least one question about gender. The interview panel usually has 3-4 people.

Confirmed questions3 questions
  • How do you manage conflicting competencies?
  • Can you describe your leadership style?
  • In what ways would you incorporate a gender perspective into your daily work?

I applied online for the Project Assistant job and two weeks later, I got an email for a written test in French. It was a 1.5 hour online test. There were 4 questions based on a 4-page document about a training subject. The questions were about writing an invitation email, listing preparation steps for technical and logistics aspects, writing an English email to IOM HQ colleagues to ask for a specialist, and writing a newsletter article about the training. I passed the written test and the next day, I got an invitation for a 30-minute interview with 3 IOM members who were very kind. I'll update after I hear back from them.

It was a good experience, and I got the job offer. The recruiting process took about a month. They asked general questions about my past work experience and tested my language skills. They also inquired about my salary expectations. Be prepared to provide references, as they will check with your previous colleagues.
