Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IOM.
Program Coordinator
First there was a written test which had five questions, from what I recall it was a comprehensive and dedicated test. Then the recruiting process got canceled and then redone.
- Can you briefly explain the project cycle stages? And what is the logical logframe and what info does it include?
- What exactly is the logical logframe and what details does it hold?
- Could you describe the contents of a logical logframe?
Facility Coordinator
I got a call about the interview and we set it up. The interview was with the HR Officer and the program director. They started by asking about my past work and then mostly asked competency-based questions. They said I'd hear back by early next week, but I never did.
- Have you worked with various entities like government bodies or NGOs before?
Project Coordinator
You start by submitting your application on the IOM website. Then, HR reviews it to see if you meet the basic requirements. If you're shortlisted, they'll reach out. Depending on the job, you might have some initial assessments like written tests or technical tasks. After that, there could be a preliminary phone or video interview about your background and interest. Sometimes, there's a panel interview with HR, hiring managers, and others. For technical roles, expect more interviews to check those specific skills. They'll also likely ask behavioral questions to see how you fit with the company's values. Your references or previous employers might be contacted. A final interview with senior folks could happen too. If all goes well, you get a job offer. Before finalizing, they'll do background checks on your education and work history. Finally, there's onboarding to get you settled in. Just remember, the process can change, so it's good to check with IOM or HR for the latest info.
- Can you tell us about yourself and your professional background, focusing on experiences and skills relevant to this role?
- What sparked your interest in working for IOM?
- What are your thoughts on current global migration challenges or those in the region of interest?
