Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IOM.
Operations Assistant
it was smooth sailing at the beginning but I chocked at the end also they called 3 hours before the interview so it was such short notice but honestly i had some time to prepare what I was going to say. i lost words, should have said excel and Microsoft and lots of useful programs
- What tools should an assistant use, or what tools have you used in the past?
Operations Assistant
The HR contact was good. The interview itself was pretty straightforward and the questions weren't overly challenging. They were professional throughout and asked relevant questions for the role and industry. I didn't get any feedback afterwards.
- Describe a time you disagreed with a management decision and how you handled it.
Operations Assistant
It was an amazing experience. I really liked the questions. Some questions were about my experience in teamwork and multicultural environments, and I had to give examples. At the end, I asked two questions: Have I answered all your questions? Is there anything to clarify? And what advice do you give for someone like me who wants to perform well in this role? I was impressed that they are focusing on the candidate's enthusiasm and energy rather than experience in booking systems like Amadeus. Even though I worked with Amadeus, I told them I would need to refresh my memory to excel at it. I mentioned I am a quick learner and thrive on growth and learning new things. I'm still waiting to hear back from them.
- Can you share an instance where you made an error and what lessons you took away from it?
- Could you describe a time you were part of a team?
- Could you describe a time you worked in a multicultural setting?
